Q ..There is a lot of services in the net who engaged in dating-russian-girl activity. Why is that?
A. So-called "russian dating" is a highly profitable business. Some internet-based outfits make millions selling profiles and emails of russian (ukrainian, belorussian etc) brides. The best agencies offer a full spectre of services, starting from translating letters to organazing trips, visas etc. There are literally thousands of agencies. A huge demand from both sides gave a rise to a new russian brides industry that is gaining popularity, and a lot of individuals found many dishonest ways of making money out of bringing people together. So, if you want to find a partner abroad, you should be really aware: there are a lot of opportunities, but also there’s a lot of scam.
Q. So, why Russian girls want to meet, date or marry foreign men? Where is the trick? What, the girls do not want their good old russian guys as partners?
A. Yes, a lot of Russian girls are not against marrying an interesting foreign man. There are many reasons for that: Russian women are considered to be very attractive, and foreign men have an image (among many Russian women) of being intelligent, wealthy, and interesting partners. But of course, not all the women in Russia or Ukraine want to marry abroad. Generally, the women who decide to find a foreign husband can be very different and can have completely different motivations. Some women are sincerely looking for a partner to create a family together, some women just want to have fun, others want to make money.
Q. You liked a girl on some site and tried to communicate with her by email; but it appears she cannot read english and you do not know russian, so what to do in this case?
A. This is a usual situation, because many of the girls have very little English or do not know the language whatsoever. This is why we call this a romantic adventure :) There aren’t many options in this case: if you like to continue correspondence, find a good translator or ask the girl to improve her english and take some courses. Some sites offer free translation of the introduction letter, like www.kissme.com.ua
Q. You have sent around 100 letters to girls and received no response, why is that?
A. There are lots of reasons why girls do not respond. Some of them are:
- Ladies change their emails quickly. Try to contact those newly added.
- You write in language a girl does not understand. - You write in russian, but girls cannot read your message due to incorrect cyrillic encoding.
- You send stereotyped messages like "I liked you, write me". The problem is that any pretty-looking lady with free email receives hundreds of letters each week. They must be busy as worker-bees to process all those revelations, so all one-line messages go to a trash bin as likely as not.
- You send them a 600 kb photo where you are pictured in red bra sitting on a white elephant. Jokes apart, just try to be realistic and don’t get discouraged.
Q. It seems russian girls just do not love me! Why??
A. There is a myth about russian girls describing them as some pretty silly approachable things from a hungry beggardom easily tempted by a ten dollar bijouterie. This is not so, of course. Most ladies from Russia do like financially independent gentlemen, this is a "must" from their point of view, but money not always decide everything. The key word is love. Any girl from any country usually considers "love" to be sacred of sacred of things, something most important in life and russian girls constitute no exception to this rule. You just cannot expect "love" flame up from a couple of email messages.
Q. From time to time I receive odd messages from girls saying that "she is a refugee and a doughter of a Dr. XXX, who was into gold and crude oil business, but he was killed and she managed to escape with very important documents which covers her father’s deposition of money (some US$ millions) etc.". In the end I was asked to do something to help the girl etc. What does it mean and what it is all about? A. Beware of scam! If you receive messages like this:
hello, my name is XXX am 22 years live in senegal i see your profil and i like it i will like you to contact me with my email so that i will send you my pictures .please email me with (XXXX@yahoo.com)hoping o hear from you. hello my name is XXX,i saw your profile i decide to mail you, how are you today.i hope all is well.i am 22 years, please can you send you mail to my mail adderss so that i can tell you more about my self, here is my mail adderss(XXXX@yahoo.com) believe we can move from here!I am waiting for your mail to my email address above.ann(Remeber the distance or colour does not matter but love matters alot in life. (messages may vary in style and certain words but they still are definitely recognizable) then you may be sure you are dealing with a some kind of a so-called Nigerian scam scheme.
Profile of the girl may contain the following abracadabra: i am nice and good looking girl looking for i am nice and good looking girl looking for nice mannice mani am nice and good looking girl looking for i am nice and good looking girl looking for nice mannice man
Do not reply to these messages, delete them from your mailbox and send message to admin of your site asking to remove profile of the scammer.
Q. My girl from Russia asked me to send her a bit of a money. You know, she wants to visit my country and she needs cash to pay for visa and tickets. Do you think it is wise from my side to send her money by MoneyGram or Western Union?
A. You’d better give your money to starving children in Africa. Why? Because it is 99% chance that your "girl from Russia" is a scammer. Who is a scammer? Some person who pretend to be a girl but in reality he is a con who is after your money. Just remember - do not send any money or in any way help the scammers make their schemes work. Do not send money to nobody. Do not send money to anybody, especially if she is a young very pretty girl in a hard situation holding her ill grandma on her tender hands etc. Do not pay for airtickets, visas, teddybears etc after the second-third email message. Do not pay for anything. If you trust your "girl from Russia" one hundred percent, then you may do as you like, but we’d strongly advise to do the following:
1. buy her tickets yourself (so that she could not benefit from them).
2. arrange her visa and pay for visa yourself.
3. try to know her better and DO NOT BELIEVE in emails.
To be continued.
